Iris received a call from a customer reporting that someone had fraudulently filed state and federal income tax returns using his name and Social Security number. The customer’s tax agent alerted him to the situation and had already notified the IRS. Understandably, the customer was concerned and needed assistance in disputing the fraudulent returns.
