A recent report issued by the United States Census Bureau revealed that, for the first time in history, the global population of human beings 65 and older will surpass those under 5 sometime before 2020. It will be a momentous day indeed – one that will perhaps signify the ever-growing importance of our elder generation.
Here in the U.S., we dedicate August 21st to our senior citizens by celebrating National Senior Citizens Day – a day to support, honor, and show our appreciation for older adults. One of the best ways to do that is to learn the special risks that they face so that you can be a better advocate for them. According to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), identity theft among seniors accounts for as much as 10 percent of all identity theft cases.
